2011 has almost come to an end and now it’s time to celebrate! New Year’s Eve is party time. We leave our cocoons after a timeout on the sofa to welcome the New Year and say goodbye to the old one. I recommend sparkling, radiant, elegant, flirty and sexy perfumes.
Ladies…
Burberry: Body
A sensual chypre with a 90′s touch. Feminine and elegant, sparkling like a rosé champagne with a fresh, peachy rose and a soft, musky base with notes of vanilla, sandalwood and amber. For me one of the best launches on the commercial market in 2011. Not too loud for a candlelight dinner and not shy for a party. Just the right mix to loose control on New Year’s Eve.
Hayari: Only for her
The French fashion house Hayari Couture has just launched its first perfume. Only for her is a wonderful young chypre created by Sidonie Lancesseur, a very talented French perfumer who also worked with Kilian Hennessy on his line. Only for her is for all those who love Coco Mademoiselle and Miss Dior Chérie but are looking for something new. With notes of freesia, grapefruit, magnolia, white pepper, sandalwood, patchouli, vanille.
Vero Profumo: Rubj. Extrait de Parfum
For me this is one of the most beguiling perfumes ever. If you smell Rubj the sun will shine even in winter, life will be wonderful and you will feel warm and sexy. The mix of orange blossom, jasmine and musk is so powerful and will get you addicted immediately. A-ma-zing! By the way it’s pronounced “ruby“ and yes, it is a little bit dirty in the drydown.
Parfums d’Orsay: L’Intrigante
What do you expect from a perfume with musk in the opening? Indeed, very seductive from the beginning! I like the pepper on top and the oriental base. Wonderful!
Nasomatto: Nuda
Nuda is kind of intoxicating. You get a very intense, leathery jasmine – sensual in the drydown. The perfect accessory for your silk gown. Very elegant!
…and gentlemen!
Byredo: Mister Marvelous
A fresh elixir of mandarin leaves, neroli, lavender, bamboo, amber and cedar wood. Welcome the New Year with a burst of energy, Mister Marvelous goes perfectly with champagne. Dance the night away. Cheers darling!
Éditions de Parfum Frédéric Malle: L’Eau d’Hiver
Jean-Claude Ellena created this masterpiece with notes of white heliotrope, iris and honey. Crisp like a cold night in December and warm like skin. A firework of contrasts – very sexy.
Penhaligon’s: Juniper Sling
Juniper Sling by master perfumer Oliver Cresp for Penhaligon’s is an homage to the Roaring Twenties and London Dry Gin. A wonderful cocktail with gin, orange brandy, leather, brown sugar, cardamom, black cherry and amber.
Escentric Molecules: Molecule 01
The story of Molecule 01 created by Geza Schön is famous. The perfume, based on the molecule Iso E Super, is a wonderfully linear cedar wood scent that disappears and reappears while you wear it. You have to try it out yourself. I loved it on a colleague but she couldn’t smell it herself. The room was filled with this woody trail. To me it smells like a man who comes from the cold outside, having chopped wood and smoked a cigarette. Are you sold yet?
Lalique: White
For a white night. A very elegant, classy perfume with notes of tamarind, lemon leaf, bergamot, nutmeg, white pepper, cedar, amber and musk. A smooth operator.
This is the last post in 2011, I wish you all a happy and successful 2012! ♥
Did I already say that I love this illustration by Igor + André?
