Where are you going on holiday? And which is your favorite perfume for your summer vacation? I don’t know yet where I will spend my summer holidays but I have some inspiration for you with regards to the smell of summer. My translator is on a holiday as well, I apologize for mistakes.
Diane von Furstenberg: Sunny Diane
Mandarine, sea breeze, frangipani flower, driftwood, musk – Sunny Diane is such a wonderful perfume for hot summer days with its sparkling citrus notes and sensual musk. It feels amazing wearing it when it’s hot outside. The only thing to mention is, that unfortunately it doesn’t last very long on my skin. Created by perfumer Aurélien Guichard.
Vero Profumo: Mito
Mito will be launched in September, but I already got a sample and I am fascinated about the brilliant creation of Vero Kern. Mito is a completely new vibe for this line: airy, transparent, citrusy with a chypre character. Starting with a splash of galbanum it settles down to a classy, mossy base. It was inspired by a garden full of green and white, a mythical place, which reminded Vero Kern a lot of her childhood. With green notes like galbanum, cypress and oakmoss.
Guerlain: Cuir Beluga
Oh là là. The most sensual, powdery perfume for the evening. So sophisticated, never too loud, wonderful in combination with sun-kissed skin. My absolute favorite. With notes of tangerine, vanilla, amber, heliotrope, leather, aldehydes. I am happy that we have a Guerlain counter here in Berlin where the L’Art et la Matière Series is available.
Hierbas de Ibiza: Eau de Cologne
I love Ibiza as I told you several times before. It’s such a laid-back little island. Hierbas de Ibiza Eau de Cologne is made in Ibiza and reflects the Mediterranean landscape with notes of orange, lemon, verbena, thyme, sage, orange blossom, cinnamon, vanilla and many more. A wonderful splash of summer that feels like jumping into the ocean. Rather masculine but also highly recommended for tough beach girls.
L’Artisan Parfumeur: Mon numéro 3
Bertrand Duchaufour is the perfumer behind the Mon numéro collection for L’Artisan Parfumeur. I got Mon numéro 3, which is a mix of different vetiver essences. Grassy, green, spicy, earthy and fresh at the same time. No need to say more, this is my numéro.
Technique Indiscrète: Indiscrète
Indiscrète is the first perfume of this line and still my favorite. Maybe it is the only perfume built around the idea of apples that I accept. To build a scent around apples is a very difficult challenge, you need an expert. Louison created a perfume that is so alluring and feels so young. It is a summer garden in a bottle. A sophisticated summer garden in a bottle.
Hermès: Voyage d’Hermès
A musky, citrusy-spicy scent that is more than refreshing and sensual in its way. I love the woody drydown. The flacon is perfect for putting it into your bag and the design is awesome. Jean-Claude Ellena for me is a synonyme for summer. All his scents are kind of sunny and transparent. Sophisticated and gorgeous.
Keiko Mecheri: Peau de Pêche
Since I was a little child I have been eating peaches on the beach. Their smell in the sun means summer to me. Therefore I love Peau de Pêche which means Peach Skin in English. I associate warm skin lying in the sand. The best feeling ever. With peach, iris, sandalwood and – of course – musk.
Penhaligon’s: Eau de Verveine
Verveine is a tea the Frenchmen drink in the evening. And in summer I love this tea on the rocks, because of its lemony flavor it is very refreshing. Eau de Verveine is the perfect summer scent for men, it’s elegant, easy to wear, traditional but with this fruity summer feeling.
Creed: Virgin Island Water
And for those who are looking for some coconut in my list I recommend Virgin Island Water. For me coconut oil at the beaches of the Côte d’Azur is the most typical smell of summer. I know it’s a love/hate thing. But I love it. In summer. Sometimes. Not always.
