I told this to a beauty editor recently: This year roses are the next big thing in perfumery, everyone is presenting a rose scent. Of course, this is nothing new, but it’s not easy to create the perfect rose perfume – especially a modern rose fragrance. Van Cleef & Arpels has now launched its Rose Velours in the Collection Extraordinaire – and I’m in love!
You will ask me why I present you an opulent rose fragrance in the heat of summer. Because I can, te-hee. No, simply because I think this one is a perfect summer scent. Not kidding. I tested Rose Velours during my lunch break, accompanied by salad and mineral water at the café next door. And I think that this rose fragrance was very delicious in the sun. Ok, I admit that it would be perfect for a sundown with its notes of honey and soft benzoin, powdery iris and lush rose. I loved it anyway. I love the ambery color of the perfume, which even smells a little bit like an amber scent.
Rose Verlours has nothing old-fashioned, it’s not totally modern but some masculine cedar wood notes reveal a contemporary style rose scent. This scent is sweet like honey without being sticky. Perfect on summer skin and by the way very elegant. I am very happy that the ambroxan doesn’t come trough, because I hate too much of this synthetic, clean smelling ingredient!
Summer love!
