Nude colors are absolutely en vogue this summer season. Perfect timing for the launch of Nuda by Nasomatto. Hearing the word Nuda my first association are these colors but of course also naked skin. Nuda is the Italian term for ’naked‘. I would have expected something different from any other perfume house, but not from Alessandro Gualtieri, who says about his perfume: “This fragrance is a bomb, an explosion!“ If you are not prepared Nuda could be shocking – a jasmine shock.
Nuda smells as if Helmut Newton’s ‚Big Nudes‘ would drive up with squealing tyres. An absolutely intensive jasmine with a harsh tar note, that only cools down slowly. Like asphalt, that shimmers in the heat. It seems as if the air is burning and it smells like fuel, later on only in the background, as if flames slowly expire. That’s what gives Nuda the animalistic and very interesting character. There is also a leather note. Give it some time and it looses its power and becomes softer without loosing its distinctiveness. The jasmine covers your skin and develops its beautiful seductive smell. However, I find that the scent stays very close to the skin; it doesn’t have a huge aura, what would have been critical. A bomb in the opening, an aftershock in the drydown. After about two hours I smell a light hairspray note. Nuda is multi-faceted. Choose your favorite one.
Jasmine is known as an aphrodisiac and Nuda is a jasmine elixir with a dark side and a toxic appeal. One thing is clear: in Nuda jasmine looses its innocence.
